Two days ago we went on a ferry to get to get to villa O’Higgins. We had to take a ferry because there was no bridge. On the ferry we stood on a deck overlooking the cars. It was nice because we got a pretty view. The ferry was free and very long, maybe 45 minutes. Everybody else was drinking mate on the ferry while we were looking at the mountains.
Once we got off we started to drive to villa O’Higgins. It was 3 hours of bumpy, loud gravel road. We saw 2 condors on the way. One was above us and one was flying right next to us.
Once we got to Villa O’Higgins we went on a hike. It was 5 hours long. It was really steep. We saw mountains and lakes and an airport. Mama did not like it though because it was really hard for her.
I had a big sandwich afterwards.

Syd, you do very well at moving out thinking to your location. I would love to see a condor someday. Your pictures of all the food you eat are very clear and usually make me think of the food that I would like to eat. You’ve experienced and lot on this trip. Enjoy it for all of us!
Great reporting! The scenery is beautiful – you won’t see mountains like that back home where you live. Is that an airport runway in the background of the one photo? What kind of planes fly in there? I’ve never seen a condor in the wild, and those geese are pretty cool, too. You’re going to have enough reports to write a book when you get back – many years from now you’ll enjoy looking back, because you’ve ween so much you won’t remember it all!
Looks like a great day…..and that was definitely a very large sandwich! Did you finish all of it?
I think a 5 hour hike would be too much for my old legs😂
