In Uyuni my family and 2 other people went to the biggest salt flat in the world on a tour. we went with a tour so we would not get the 4runner stuck and covered in salt. The car we took was a land cruiser. The tour lasted all day.
We went to a train cemetery first though. The trains were used to bring salt and sulfuric acid from Bolivia to Chile. There were locomotives and cargo cars. They were old and rusty and had big pieces missing so they did not work any more. We got to climb on the trains.
We went in the wet season so it was mostly covered in half a foot of water. We had to wear special rain boots.
We had a delicious vegetarian lunch with quinoa at a hotel on the salar. our guide made it.
We then did illusions with toy dinosaurs where the dinos were trying to eat us. We did one with me and a jar of nutella.
We did a weird dance with our guide driving around and filming us. The mirror of the salar and the fact that it was a times lapse made it cool.
Then we saw some indegonos groups doing their dance. It looked like they were doing a music video.

Syd, Good choice of a Land Cruiser over the 4Runner. I remember that you weren’t too fond of getting stuck in the sand. I like the picture of you on the Nutella jar. That’s a keeper! I also liked the pictures of the trains and you climbing on them. Keep up the adventures. Life might not be as exciting back home.
This is a great post, Sydney! The only knowledge I had about salt flats related to overland racing. I like the reflectivity when it is covered with water much better. The photographs are magical! Thanks for describing your fun experience through the pictures you shared!
Cool! I had never heard about those salt flats and now I would love to visit there some day. Your pictures are fun!
