Two days ago we went to the Parque Centennial, a park in Cartagena. We went there with lots of hope because Mama had said there might be creatures like sloths there. We got there and almost immediately were greeted by an enormous Iguana in a tree. The Iguana was a lot bigger than we all thought Iguanas would be and definitely just as chill as we expected. We liked looking at it but it was hot out so we kept walking.
Then, completely out of the blue, a man came up to us and said “Come with me I’m going to show you a sloth.”
We followed him and sure enough, high up in a fairly hard-to-see spot, there was a sloth. Sleeping. It was really cute but also hard to see so he said he would show us the other animals of the park. We went with him and the first things he showed us were monkeys. Tamarind monkeys in fact.
He took out some bits of coconut and they all came over and started taking little bits of coconut from him. Syd tried and gave one of them a little piece. Then he offered to let me feed one and hold it. I was, as you might expect, a bit hesitant to hand feed monkeys but I thought, “What could possibly go wrong?”
And went for it.
It was a bit like having a bird on your arm. The monkey was small and very light and it could jump a good long way for its size. They were so cute and soon enough there was a small crowd all feeding the monkeys. After a good few minutes of this we moved on.
We got to see a Mama sloth and a baby sloth who were so cute and these ones you could see a little bit better. They, I think, were three toed sloths which are apparently native here. The park was super fun and we are, no joke, strongly considering going back there in the next week to see the animals again and maybe a little bit closer (if possible).

What a fun experience with the animals. I applaud your hesitation before hand feeding a wild animal. I am also very glad that you ended up having a good time feeding the monkeys! ♥️
It’s always fun to “monkey around” when you’re on vacation!
It looks like you after getting much closer to the zoo animals than you do at home. You will certainly have lots of memories to share with your friends back in the states. A trip to your local zoo will seem much different now than you have experienced the real thing.
