Punto Tombo is famous for its penguins. We drove down a long dirt road and then stopped to walk on the trail. To get to the end we had to walk about a mile. When we started the walk, we saw a penguin waddle down the boardwalk. A couple more waddled across.
There were a lot of penguins, more than 10000! Some of the penguins were lying down and some of them were waddling around. The ones that were laying down were laying in dens that were either under bushes or under-ground.
There were baby penguins too. The babies had grey feathers. Their feathers were very fluffy. The babies were squeaking for food.
Their poop was all over the place: in their dens, on the beach, even on the trail! Their poop smelled so bad. Other than that, they smelled alright.
Then we saw some fighting, there were three fighting. I think two were trying to defend their den from one trying to steal it. They fought by flapping, hitting, and rolling around.

Good description, Syd. I did see poop all over the place when I first read your post. You’ll have lots of stories to share when you get home.
I think penguins are awesome! I have never heard of burrowing penguins . Much like my surprise when I found out that there were burrowing owls. I am learning a lot of new things about animals because of your blog entries. That was quite an interesting walk you took with so many different animal sightings. Lucky for you! 💕
