Pantanal and Iguacu Falls

It was 2 weeks ago when we got to the Pantanal.  On our drive in we stopped to see some capybara.  When we arrived at our lodge we had lunch. We went on a boat ride with our guide.  We sadly saw no jaguars, but we did see black hawks, a lot of vultures, monkeys, agoutis, coati, tapirs, and lots of capybara. We saw some Jabiru stork.  They were really big. They were as tall as Audrey

We had a buffet dinner and then went to bed.  We woke up at 5 to go on a safari. We saw an armadillo and then saw blue macaw.  We got back and had lunch.  We then went to our next lodge.

We had a very nice lodge.  We went to the pool.  We also really liked the pingpong.  We played lots of foosball. The capybara invaded our lodge multiple times.  They ate the mangoes and looked very dignified.  Their feet were webbed and looked very interesting.

We rode horses.  We rode across the fields. We saw blue macaws up close. At the end of our ride There was lighting and rain. The lightning was close but I stayed calm. We got soaked and had to change clothes.

We went on a lot of safaris. The caiman were big and kind of scary.  We saw ant eaters: two were tamandua anteaters and one was a giant anteater.  The giant one had a very big tail.  The tamandua were very small. We saw a cool lizard called the black and white tegu. The Pantanal was very exiting and I wish to go back there some time.

A week ago we went to Igaucu falls.  We decided to go on the boat tour.  To get there we first went on a bus.  We then got on an electric car thingy.  We then did a bit of walking.  We finally got on a boat.  The boat wasn’t very stable. It felt like we went sideways. I didn’t feel very safe in it. We were at the bottom, so the falls looked very tall. We got very close and got soaked.

After the falls we went to a Buddhist temple in Foz do Iguazu. Buddhism is a religion that originated in Northern India, but we don’t know why the temple was there.  In the middle of the temple was a happy fat Buddha.  After that we got on a overnight bus that had flat beds to Florianopolis, which is where I am now. It was a fifteen hour drive.  I watched screens, then I went to bed.  I woke up and did more screens.  We got an uber and came here to our lodge.  I will tell you more about our lodge later but for now goodbye.

  1. Thanks for the latest update! I hope you’re making a list of all the different animals you’ve seen. It would be fun to make a picture wall when you get home. I bet it would cover the entire wall by the time you’re done! Love you all!

  2. Syd, you included so much in your story of your adventures. I enjoyed your description of all the animals. You’ll have some great stories to share when you return to the US.
