At out campsite when I woke up one morning, I saw my dad getting out of the tent to go for a walk. I put on some clothes and followed him. When I caught up with him, he showed me some maras he found. Maras are big rodents that look like capybaras. I like how they hop on all four legs.
The next animal we saw was a grey fox. He was on the side of the road to the petrified forest. Grey foxes aren’t really foxes but they are closely related to wolves. Their Spanish name is Zorro Gris.
After that we saw an armadillo. He was a little guy. We saw him scuttling across the road. He was one of those armadillos that are active at day. He should be more careful crossing the road.

You have seen so many new animals, Syd. What an experience! I have only seen armadillos when I was in Texas. One late night in 1972 I actually hit an armadillo on the road. It was dark and I wasn’t sure what happened until the car made a big thud. It was a bit scary because armadillos are fairly big and quite hard. It was like hitting a rock.
