A few days ago we saw king penguins. King penguins are big penguins. In fact they are the second largest penguin type after the emperor. They have the same genus as the emperor penguin. They are about as big as a second-grader.
Some still had baby fluff. Babies have brown thick feathers. The baby feathers are not waterproof. Adults have orange on their chins.
The place we went to was the only king penguin colony in Chile. They usually live in the Falkland Islands and South Georgia Islands.
It was a really fun trip and I look forward to dragging my kids there too!

Nice story, Syd. I hope that you continue to enjoy your being dragged around South America. You are really having the adventure of a lifetime.
Penguins! I’ve only ever seen them in zoos. They are my wife’s favorite animal to watch! You’re VERY lucky to have seen them live and in person in the wild.
