Two days ago we arrived at a lodge in the Ecuadorian cloud forest.
The day we arrived we crossed the equator into the northern hemisphere, YAY!
A cloud forest is a high forest that is sometimes in the clouds. They had squirrels and lots of birds there. The squirrel we saw was the first squirrel I have seen since America.
They had cock-of-the-rock birds there and they are very pretty.
The lodge was very nice and cozy. There was a kids room and a grown ups room. There were good meals there. It was vegetarian and delicious. We had pancakes and quinoa burgers and many other foods.
We found a questionably safe bridge across some rapids. I went across the bridge many times.
In the mornings the weather was good and we walked around but when it was not we stayed inside.
There were bananas and coffee beans growing there.

Sydney, I think that you have conquered rope bridges. I really like your opening photo of you crossing the river. You have experienced so much on this trip. I look forward to hearing some of your stories. I am sure that it would take you months to tell them all. Welcome back to the northern hemisphere. We’ll see you soon!
The lodge does look cozy. The cloud forest is a place I would most certainly enjoy. I’ve been wondering if there are a lot of insects in some of those tropical areas? None of you has mentioned being annoyed by bugs, flying, biting or crawling. I’m looking forward to your adventure tales in person! Share my love with everyone! 💕💕
Oh, the wildlife you’ve seen – a lot you’ll never see back home, that’s for sure! Great reporting, as usual – keep the diary entries coming!
That bridge looks a bit scary but you certainly have it all under control! The pictures you have posted are perfect!
