Two days ago we arrived in the Amazon rainforest. To get there we went on a a bus to a port and fish market. Next we took a boat across the meeting of the waters. After that we got on a different bus and after all that we got on one more boat to the Lodge. Once we got here we had lunch. The first trace of wildlife at the lodge we saw were some capuchin monkeys. Next I saw a toucan. For dinner I had pasta.
The next day we visited our guide Anselmo’s friends. We brought hammocks for a siesta. While we were getting back that night we saw lots of caimans .We also saw monkeys and went piranha fishing. We caught two different types of piranhas: red bellied piranhas and another kind that was really shiny and skinny.
The next morning we saw more monkeys and the workers got them down from the trees with bananas. Next we went to maniac plantation thingy. We had to go by boat and we also did a little bit of walking. It was really hot and I hated it. We saw lots of jumping fish. The jumping fish jumped from the water into our boat and we had to protect our faces. The previous year Anselmo got knocked out by a jumping fish. The boat that went on was really dirty .
We saw a really cool bird called hoatzin. We also saw a chestnut aracari which is a relative of the toucan.
On the fourth day, I discovered hot milk at breakfast. It is better with the chocolate powder mixed in. My dad and I went on a hike with our guide Anselmo. We saw a really rare monkey that made a weird grunting noise. It had a big, fluffy tail like a raccoon. After that our guide showed me how to use a machete. After our hike we took a little break. Next my mom and I went piranha fishing. We caught lots of them. As we were coming back, we saw a family of caiman.

You are certainly seeing lots of new and very interesting animals! I’m glad you’re able to share pictures of some of them. I’m pretty sure I won’t ever see most of them in their natural habitat! You haven’t mentioned insects except the leaf-cutter ants. I thought the jungle might be full of different kinds of insects.
Thanks for another blog post and your fantastic birthday wishes! I love you all! 💕💕
You’re certainly seeing a lot of critters that you won’t see when you get back home! It sounds like it’s been a very challenging trip, and the walking in the mud – yikes! But hey, you’ve already had a lifetime of memories, and you’re still on the trip. You’re having an adventure not many people from the USA will ever get to have! Enjoy!
Syd, I like the picture of you holding the piranha. I always thought that they were a vicious fish. I’m looking forward to seeing you demonstrate your machete skills. It appears that you are having a great adventure.
You are a very lucky boy to be a world traveler seeing animals and places that most of us can only dream about! Your pictures are great. It’s interesting that most travel involves things you love but also things that you don’t care for as much; that’s all part of the adventure, isn’t it? Thank you for telling us about your trip. 🤗❤️
