The Dakotas – Syd

Last week we went to the North Dakota heritage museum.  After the dinosaurs there were some very interesting creatures called ground sloths. Ground sloths immigrated here to north America from south America. Their scientific name comes from their third and biggest claw.  Although modern sloths are small ground sloths were the size of a modern grizzly bear.  We saw a big turtle fossil (they were 15 feet long!) from a long time ago.

We read an Indian story about a farting wolf in an Indian earth lodge at the fort Abraham Lincon visitor center. The wolf was farting because he ate the chief potato. The site was built on an old Indian village.

Yesterday we went on a hike. It was in the badlands national park on the castle trail. The hike was five and a half hours. It was eleven miles. It was fun but tiring. There were lots of mountains. I climbed on the hills with Audrey.
